St Andrew’s Day Playlist

Scotland the Brave/Alba an Aigh – Pipes and Drums

Performed by The Pipes & Drums of The Royal Tank Regiment. My school’s pipe band used to play this as they marched back and forth across the playing field.

Brave Caledonia

Melody by Charles Miller; lyrics by Robbie Burns; performed by James Malcolm.

Skye Boat Song

Performed by the Corries. The number of times I have sung this in school choirs…

The News Frae Moirdart/Wha’ll Be King But Charlie

Performed by the McCalmans.

Ye Jacobites By Name

Lyrics by Robbie Burns; performed by Ian Bruce.

Sound the Pibroch

Performed by the Corries.

Scots Wha Hae

Performed by Scocha.

It’s amazing to think that all these songs hold fond memories from my childhood, whether I heard them at school or on dad’s folk CDs in the car. No wonder I used to dream about the ’45 Rebellion
